(This post is an example and an explanation.) I've never really watched a season of American Idol. At least not beyond the first few episodes with all of the auditions, which are always sadistically but inarguable funny. I mean I LIKE what it produces---Kelly Clarkson...Carrie Underwood.... I'm watching it this season, though. Why? The power of DVRs. It's the greatest invention. There are way too many commercials to stand 2hrs of this show, but the ability to record it and fast-forward through all of the commericals and ridiculous banter really allows you to enjoy and follow the talent of the singers. Well, I DVR'd it last night and I'm listening in the background as I inefficiently email via Facebook (a horrible invention that I will not maintain much longer----because it is more frustrating than it is an effective tool for communication and connection) with Chad. (Are you sensing the scrambled eggs, yet? No? Just wait.) On American Idol, one of the girls sung the song Yesterday, which is by far one of the greatest songs ever written---though better covered by Boyz II Men :-) . Simon explained that Paul McCartney wrote this song while he was sleeping and when he woke up to write it down, he used the working title "Scrambled Eggs" as he worked out the lyrics that he was pulling from his subconscious. Scrabled Eggs.....I think that is a great description of how my mind works most of the time....until I really sit down and work through my thoughts. Everyday I sort through a mess of scrambled eggs to figure out exactly what it is I'm feeling, thinking, dealing with, etc. I have a feeling that that is what this blog will be for me....an expression of my scrambled eggs.
